Colombia is removed from the co-hosts of the Copa America Football Tournament in view of the growing Corona virus case in the country. The Confederation of South America Football (Conmembol) gave information about this. The four cities of Colombia were scheduled to compete against the Copa America and the final match was to be held on July 10 at the Barquila Estadio Metropolitano.
Colombian Sports Minister Ernesto Lukena told Conmembol that the tournament be postponed until the Corona virus ban is lifted. It was only after this that the Confederation announced the removal of Colbya from co-hosting. Conmembol said it was not possible to postpone the tournament in view of the busy global football calendar.
Argentine President Alberto Fernández proposed to host the entire Copa America this week in the event of Colombia being removed from co-hosting. The third wave of Corona is underway in Colombia and night curfew has been implemented in many cities, while crowd gathering is also banned.
